This peated Loch Lomond single malt was distilled in 2017, and has been bottled at 5 years of age and 57.5% after finishing in a PX Sherry Octave.

A cask-led young Tomintoul that was first matured in ex-Bourbon barrels before being finished in White Port barriques from Portugal. White Port is not a cask type we see very often in the whisky world. This should be a fun and fruity one from the distillery that produces 'the gentle dram' (their words, not ours).

It's a good time to be a Tomintoul fan (assuming such peeople exist). The distillery has never really cask much of a shadow here, but we are seeing an incredible range of releases available all of a sudden. Better still, a range that spans all ages and a whole load of unique expressions. If you're not a Tomintoul person, maybe now is the time to dive in. Truly an underappreciated whisky.
Producer Note: "Our 17 Years Old Pedro Ximénez Sherry Cask Finish was distilled in 2005 and matured initially in American ex-bourbon oak casks before being finished in the finest Pedro Ximénez Sherry butts from Fernando de Castilla in Andalucía, Spain. These sherry butts perfectly complement Tomintoul Single Malt by imparting rich fruit flavours, which enhance the character and complexity of our whisky."
