14-Year-Old Bourbon, you say? Finished in ex-rum casks, is it?

This curious release comes from Wolf Spirit of Eugene, Oregon. The Bourbon was sourced from Kentucky, according to the producer's website, but that might be an error. The mash bill is listed on Wolf Spirits's website as 84% Corn, 8% Malt, and 8% Rye, which lines up with the mash bill for George Dickel/Cascade Hollow Distillery - but that is in Tennessee... What is known is that the 14 Year Old Bourbon was finished for up to six months in casks that previously held 12-year-old Jamaican Rum. The result was then bottled at 48% ABV.

Producer Tasting Note

"Aged in new American Oak barrels, the whiskey picks up the flavors of a long-matured bourbon, including vanilla, dark fruit, and warm oak. The rum finishing enhances the sipping experience by introducing Jamaican rum’s famous and distinct “funk” – adding rich flavors of brown sugar, ripe bananas, and sweet baking spice reminiscent of Bananas Foster. The finish is long and soft with the slightest hints of rum lingering for a near eternity."
