Limit 1 Per Customer! You should all know by now that we're big fans of Tamdhu. They're one of the true vanguard protecting the legacy of sherry maturation in the Scotch whisky world and, sadly, there seems to be fewer and fewer distilleries able to produce in this style with each passing year. In short, we're pretty fortunate Tamdhu is holding standards high. To say we were excited for the arrival of the 18-year-old is an understatement. This one has been on our radar since first whispers made it over here. Hate to do it, but we've gotta limit this one to one-per-(customer/family/household) for now.
Producer Description
"Tamdhu only matures in the finest Oloroso Seasoned Sherry Casks sourced from Spain, so when a small selection of these fine casks came of age, the time was right for the distillery to bring them together to craft a very limited 18-Year-Old release. This scarce wood bears two great gifts: colour and taste. Tamdhu 18 Year Old’s deep copper hue is developed by the cask, nothing more – and each drop owes its rich, complex taste to its home of over a decade and a half."

Producer Tasting Note
Nose: Dry nutty sherry, cherry, milk chocolate, rum raisin, citrus, baked oats and plum.
Palate: Sherry notes are rich, complex and mouthcoating with vanilla, brown sugar, red apple and dried fruits.
Finish: Long and warming, dried apricot and dates, soft spice and stewed apple.
Whisky Fun Tasting Note (Angus MacRaild)
Nose: leafy and milk-chocolatey to begin, soft notes of praline, toasted almonds, walnuts, marzipan and dark fruit cake with a wee suggestion of pine needles. All extremely classical, easy and impressively reminiscent of some older batches of the old OB 15yo from the 1980s in some respects. I get the feeling the ABV is also doing some heavy lifting here… Mouth: excellent power on arrival. Sultanas, leathery vibes, suet, cellar earth, wine must and just a few darker wood spice tones such as clove and nutmeg coming through. Feels like the European oak component has a slightly more assertive voice on the palate. Nicely chewy and weighty in the mouth with still quite a few sultana and boozy dark fruit cake flavours. Finish: medium-long in length, darker notes of coffee grounds and black tea, along with a touch of mushroom powder and aged calvados. Comments: this one works very well in my view. A proper ABV combined with a sherry profile that really harks back to slightly older school sherry cask flavours without leaning heavily on this 'seasoned' very wood-forwards style. Could effortlessly line many crystal tumblers across the land come Christmas time - or is that ridiculously old fashioned of me? Anyway, an excellently composed, eminently quaffable drop I think. - 88 points.
