The Huber family has wine growing roots dating back more than 220 years. Today the winery in Reichersdorf is in its 10th generation, run by Markus Huber. In 2000 Markus took over four hectares from his father which, up to that point, had been farmed to produce the wines served in his family restaurant. Absolute focus on the strengths of the region and the unique soil types that are found there ensure that the wines display unmistakable clarity and fruit styles.

The organically grown grapes come from various plots of the winery that have in common the calcareous conglomerate soil. In part, the terraced Part of the wine is fermented with the skins making it an orange-style wine. The wine is aged in large wooden barrels, concrete barrels, steel tanks, used 500 Burgundy tonneaus and 225 barrique barrels. There was an ageing period of 5 months on the skins and fine lees. Straw yellow in colour with a delicate bouquet of cinnamon and herbal tea, racy acidity, bone dry, tight structure, light-bodied alcohol, chalky texture, immensely invigorating, long salty and fine finish.

The Meinklang vineyards are found in eastern Austria close to the Hungarian border. Gruner Veltliner, Austria's darling white grape varietal, is making Burgundian Chardonnays look positively bland and has wowed wine critics internationally for it's great food-matching credentials. Full of the flavours of green apple and citrus, with a white pepper finish, it offers a wonderful hit of mineral freshness. This wine is made entirely from Grüner Veltliner grown on sandy loam. The grapes are gently pressed into stainless steel where they ferment and age on lees for a short period of time. The wine goes through a loose filter before being bottled with 90ppm total Sulphur. 11% ABV

Made from biodynamic (organic) Pinot Gris grapes, the wine is aptly named 'Graupert' which translates to 'tangled' or 'wild', referring to the vines which are allowed to grow free and wild. Free-growing vines produce bunches with smaller grapes with less juice and thicker skins. This produces greater aromas, gives extra layers of complexity to the wine and even gives the wine its darker colour. This is not your usual Pinot Gris. Look for honey, pear and almond on the nose and a buttery, creamy texture with lively acidity, and fruity, mineral weight on the palate. Great with poultry, rabbit, port or vegetarian meals.
