After three years of primary maturation, this French Single Malt was then shifted into an ex-Ratafia Champenois cask for 15 months. Incredibly exciting for not only being one of the very few French Single Malts on the market, but also one that's been decked out in a fancy finish. Beyond singular.
As for proper notes...all we know so far is that maverick producer Gilles Dumangin says this one is 'oily and opulent.'

The Old Particular label is owned by Douglas Laing, which is one of the two Laing brothers companies that went their separate ways back in 2013. Douglas Laing is owned by Fred Laing and his family. The other half of the family is Hunter Laing, which is owned by Stewart Laing and his family.
Isn't family grand? Kind of makes one wish that their own family had enough tradition and money to split a company over, doesn't it?
Anyhow. This particular and somewhat old bottling of Craigellachie was distilled in May 2006 and eventually finished in a Sherry Butt (Ref DL15424), then bottled at 57.9% ABV. and 15 years of age.

Craigellachie has some of the best packaging in the biz, no two ways about it. Not only is the branding for their age-stated range straight out of the 1800s, but the whisky in the bottle seems almost as archaic. And we mean that in the best possible way. And those age statements? All prime numbers! So far we've seen a 13, 17, 19, 23, 31 and 51. Love it! Expect a chewy, malty experience from days gone by. A bit more challenging, and meant for the true afficionado.

This 15 year old Craigellachie from First Editions, was matured in a Sherry Butt, filled in 2007, and has been bottled at 56.3%.
