"Domaine Nico was born from my obsession for Burgundy Pinot Noir. When I realized we could make a Pinot Noir with the classic floral aromas, minerality and elegance, we began studying the flavours of high altitude Pinot Noir from Mendoza.
The wines that came up surprised me with their elegance and old-world style. It’s the aluvional and calcareous terroir that speaks these wines.
The wines of Catena are among the very best produced in Argentina; they almost single-handedly set the bar for what can be achieved in Mendoza.

The vineyard is old, planted in Villa Bastías with Dijon Clones in 1993. The Grand Père parcel is more shaded, with delicate red fruits and high acidity. Mineral. The Grand Mère parcel gets more sun, with generous and silky tannins. Winemaking is traditional and gentle for these delicate wines. Yields are extremely low in both sites due to the age of the vineyard. Intense fresh red fruits, medium-high acidity. Low perception of alcohol. Fine and silky tannins. Lengthy finish.
