Boutique-y Irish SM Batch #1.4 50ml

$19.99

This 50ml / mini bottle of Irish Whiskey was featured on Day 11 of our 2021 KWM Whisky Calendar

Could this juice be from Cooley? The signs look good... and boy do we love the juice from Cooley! A 14 year Irish Single Malt bottled at 47.6%.

Producer Description: "Our fourth batch from this undisclosed Irish distillery is a 14 Year Old, a release of just 2,116 bottles at 47.6% abv. If you know your Irish Whiskey history, then you should be able to close down on the distilleries this could come from. It’s a single malt, so that rules out Ireland’s largest distillery, Midleton as they don’t make a single malt."

About the Label

"The inspiration for this label comes straight out of a British made sitcom called ‘Father Ted’ It originally aired on Channel 4 from April 1995 and ran for just three series up until May 1998 Set on the fictional Craggy Island, a remote location off Ireland's west coast, the show is about three priests exiled on the island for various past incidents. Our label comes from an episode called ‘A Song for Europe’ that featured ‘My lovely Horse’"

Evan’s Tasting Note

Nose: Fuzzy peach candies, roasted cashew nuts, honey spread on toast, apple and pear crumble, and angel food cake.

Palate: Creamy and juicy on the palate with notes of pineapple and mango, vanilla custard, tapioca pudding, and a handful of assorted jelly beans.

Finish: Fruit and juice all the way through with a touch of tingly effervescence. Like mixed a dash of Sprite in with your fruit cup.

Comment: This has more fruit than you could shake an orchard at with some nice light spice and nutty notes thrown in for good measure. Delicious!

Producer Tasting Note

Nose: Bucketfuls of apricot, pear and nectarine. Cereal notes and creamy vanilla broken up by fresh herbs.

Palate: Citrus zest and kitchen spices mixed with melting chocolate - creamy but light.

Finish: Fresh fruit sweetness of peaches and stewed plums, with a slight nuttiness coming through.

That Boutique-y Whisky Company (TBWC) is part of the Atom Group, which also owns the UK retailer Master of Malt and a number of other subsidiaries. They are a dynamic and innovative firm, who by example invented the Whisky Advent Calendar concept. Established in 2012, TBWC is famous for its playful and colourful labels, which often feature prominent whisky industry figures, tell a story, and or elude to an inside joke. The labels are typically laced with hidden elements and "Easter Eggs."

TBWC bottles whiskies from around the world, though the bulk of their offerings are of Scottish origin. Most of their offerings are small-batch releases, Blended Malts, and Blends. Their "Head of Whisky" is Canadian Sam Simmons.

We are big fans of not only their whimsical labels but also the consistently high standard of liquid they bottle.
