A classic Lambrusco! This fruity, easy-drinking sparkling red wine is coming from Venturini Baldini, a fantastic low-intervention producer in Emilia Romagna. Expect notes of plum, blackberry, black cherry and violets, with a hint of earthy spice. This wine is best paired with most Italian cuisine; tomato-based, cheese-based, cream-based pasta dishes, or cured meats and cheese!750 ml
Abigail's Tasting Note:
Colour: Deep ruby with a delight pink foam when poured
Nose: Definitely Lambrusco! Cherry, black currant/cassis, blackberry, plum, fresh oregano, cola,
Palate: Black cherry, juicy raspberries, black currant, plum, fresh figs, cola, vanilla, black pepper. The tannins are smooth yet present. The mousse is expressive, yet not aggressive.
Finish: minus the severely stained teeth you will have (as per usual with Lambrusco) this wine will stick with you for a moment or two.
Pairings: pasta, cheese, cream, butter, cured meats. Basically, anything that is Italian influenced. My favourite pairing for Lambrusco is the almighty margarita pizza!
