This 2010 vintage Clynelish was mature in a ex-Bourbon Barrel, cask #800206, for 10 years before bottling at 60.3%. 88pts Whisky Base!

Nose: Honey Nut Cheerios and beeswax; fresh latex paint and a touch of window putty; malt, moulding clay and white fruits: apple and pear.
Palate: soft, floral and waxy with lovely honey tones and fresh fruit; traces of latex paint, moulding clay and juicy malt; Jujubes and Wine Gums moving into candy apple and pear drops; lush, coating and creamy.
Finish: long, warming, bright and fruity; still honeyed, waxy and malty.
Comment: ticking all the boxes, this is everything you want a 10 year old Clynelish to be; and the strength, 60.3%... forget about it... this is crushable!

Although the current Clynelish distillery was founded in 1967, it's origin can be traced to it's now demolished sister distillery, Brora. Founded in 1819 it was originally known as Clynelish. Interestingly in the 18thC. it was held in such high regard that the whisky was privately sold. Today the majority of Clynelish is destined for blending, with only a small amount for bottling as single malt.
Producer Description
Clynelish whisky is closer to an Island style than other mainland malts, with a complex and fragrant nose and an agreeable, long finish that leaves a lingering fresh-fruity flavour. This 14-year-old is a less heavyweight whisky that's deliciously drinkable and makes it an excellent aperitif.
