A fun little undisclosed single malt from Blackadder. If you're unfamiliar with the Raw Cask range from Blackadder, these are the bottlings that contain some bits of cask char and particulate. And if you've ever wondered whether these might be novelty releases, rest easy; they're anything but.
Blackadder is a bit tight-lipped as to what we've got here, but this is what they are willing to disclose: "Red Snake is the sister to our Black Snake whisky. As with its older brother, Red Snake only comes from top-class, first-fill ex-Bourbon casks. However, unlike its brother, each Red Snake comes from just one single cask."

A bit of backstory for this odd little malt (taken from the official website): "Rhino Whisky was born under a setting African sun as two friends sat, whisky in hand around a campfire, debating the Rhino Poaching crisis and the possible future extinction of the species if something didn't change. At the crackle of that campfire, an idea sparked for them to create a whisky that would highlight the plight of the African Rhino and give back to rhino conservation in Africa. They made a commitment to pledge 5% of all sales to the rehabilitation of baby rhino, orphaned due to their mothers being killed for their horns."
Very cool. Quite intriguing. Now the whisky...
The folks behind Rhino Whisky say that the identity of the distillery is a closely guarded secret. That's almost certainly true, but probably only because they're not allowed to disclose who made the fine single malt you're (soon to be) sipping. Such is the way in the whiskysphere sometimes. But hey...name or no name, at least we get access to the whisky. And, of course, the opportunity to do our small part. But none of that matters if the whisky isn't good. Spoiler alert: it's good.
