Andrew's Tasting Note
Nose: barley sugars, seared scallops, ozonated water and crisp citrus: lemon and lime peels; fresh sea air and subtle smoke.
Palate: sweet, honeyed and tarry with big juicy barley sugars; creamier than the nose let on; lemon and lime peel in a penicillin cocktail; candied ginger and fennel with licorice Nibbs; a touch seafoody, tame smoke.
Finish: medium in length is starts bold and slowly fades out with more honey, citrus, cream and gentle maritime-smoky tones.
Comment: the nose is pretty, and the palate elegany for a fiesty young Caol Ila; very drinkable and pleasant, it is very restrained for a 9YO.
Producer's Tasting Note
Nose: sweet peat smoke. Lemon zest and white pepper. Salty sea air.
Palate: Dry smokiness with sea sale and paraffin. Smoke bacon with more peat and pepper.
Finish: Long and smoky.
