Amaro Averna is one of the classic Italian bitter liqueurs and is produced in Caltanissetta, Sicily. It was originally created by Salvatore Averna in 1868. In 2014 the brand was purchased by Gruppo Campari, which also owns (you guessed it!) Campari, as well as Aperol, Appleton Rum, Wild Turkey Distillery in Kentucky and Forty Creek Distillery in Canada, amongst other brands worldwide.
