There's no mistaking the variety, with its aromas of dried and fresh herb, along with notes of cherry and plum. Full-bodied black currant flavors follow, with plentiful cocoa accents throughout. A Kensington Wine Market exclusive! The arid vineyards of Priorat, about a 90-minute drive from Barcelona, produce some of the most sought-after Spanish red wines. Meaty and full-bodied with dark red berries and earthy spice. This is one of our best-selling red wines, and sales go up drastically when the weather cools. It's a blend of 85% Garnacha (aka Grenache) and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. The vines grow on steep, rocky terraces and face challenging, dry conditions and high temperatures. The harsh climate makes for unique, concentrated wines with real complexity, however. Trossos del Priorats farm their land utilizing organic viticultural practices and the wine is fermented in stainless steel tank for a duration of around 21 days. It is then aged in a combination of French and American oak for 12 months. Complex, bold and rich, Trossos Priorat is a perfect match for red meats and game. Think rustic dishes, such as braised short ribs or a chicken stew.

Unfined, unfiltered and, according to Barnivore, vegan-friendly. Look for a deep purple red colour- spicy to the nose with clove, fresh berries, plum and raspberry notes. It shows a soft palate with a long and persistent finish. As far as food pairings go, go for food with richness; Grilled Alberta Beef, Wild Boar, hearty stews and lamb chops.

One of the greatest things about the Great Western wine region is its ability to successfully grow a broad range of grape varieties. Shiraz may be the regional hero, but Cabernet Sauvignon from the area can lay almost equal claim. Best’s Great Western 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon is a fine example of the Great Western Regional style; supple tannins with dark cherry, cassis, confection and cinnamon spice. With small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, this vintage Cabernet is a delight to drink now, but will certainly gain more complexity over the years.
