Cristom Vineyards was established in 1992 to craft single-vineyard Pinot Noirs from distinctive, individual sites across their 240-acre estate. Today, those five single vineyards named for members of the founding Gerrie family—Eileen, Jessie, Louise, Marjorie, and Paul Gerrie—have earned an international reputation for their individuality, authenticity, consistency, and excellence. The Eileen vineyard is situated at their highest elevation on the original property rising to over 735 feet with commanding views of the Cascade Range to the east and the Coastal Range to the west. From where it sits at the crest of the Eola Hills, Eileen Vineyard may be the site at Cristom more defined by the cold, Pacific Ocean winds than any other vineyard we farm. Eileen Vineyard is distinctive with some of the most dramatic range of soil depths on the Cristom estate, fierce winds, high elevation, multiple expositions and the most diverse collection of Pinot Noir clonal selections of any of our estate vineyards.
750 ml Low StockThe 2021 Eileen Vineyard Pinot Noir is a masterclass of winemaking. About 45% whole cluster fruit was used during fermentation to add structure and tannin, while the aging takes place in 35% new French oak barrels, which deliver fantastic baking spice tones. The vineyard is at the top of the hill, where winds constantly buff the vines, creating grapes with very thick skins. Gorgeous aromas of lilac flowers, blue plums, cedary herbs, lemon verbena, and a touch of melted milk chocolate keep you coming back for more. Acidity is elevated alongside the crunchy and complex tannins that keep everything tied together.
