This Bordeaux white is now being produced entirely from semillon, from 80-year-old vines, a rarity in Bordeaux. There is an intriguing bouquet of tropical fruit aromas with delicate floral notes. There are hints of honey and almonds that add a velvety texture, while a subtle minerality underlines the wine's elegance.

This domaine has expanded considerably since the time Serge Dagueneau took on his handful of hectares. Today, there are 23 hectares of vines, of which 18 hectares are dedicated to Sauvignon Blanc in the Pouilly-Fumé appellation. Many of the vines are ancient, with some up to one hundred years old. Most of these vines are planted on Kimmeridgian marl, one of the classic terroirs of the Pouilly-Fumé and Pouilly-sur-Loire appellations. He is the nephew of the late Didier Dagueneau, a legend in the wine world. The L'Odyssee is their flagship wine, a stunning example of Pouilly-Fume.

"Along the roman road of Pouilly-sur-Loire, the vineyards of Les Chailloux present a beautiful vein of flint which gave Valérie the idea to express the vividness and the purity of this terroir. In 1973, Philippe Le Grix de la Salle left the Créon cooperative and started up his winery. This was the birth of Grand Verdus as a wine château in the classic Bordeaux mould. Under the courtyard of the 400-year-old structure are the wine cellars. The stainless steel tanks are among the first installed in Gironde. At the same time, some Premiers Grand Crus Classés of the Médoc are also developed. With the help of Emile Peynaud, a famous professor at the Faculty of Oenology of Bordeaux and “mentor” of Philippe Le Grix de la Salle, a modern Bordeaux chateau is born.
