Unlike any in its category, this is the first premium bottled craft cocktail to be made in Alberta and adds a unique Alberta twist to the famous Moscow Mule. The pre-mixed craft cocktail perfectly combines Eau Claire Distillery’s extremely successful spirit, Prickly Pear EquineOx and Annex Ale’s fresh and spicy Ginger Beer, all with a kiss of sweetness and lemon.
“I wanted to create something that was refreshing and perfect for summer, that I could be proud of and enjoy myself,” said Eau Claire Distillery Master Distiller, Caitlin Quinn. Over the past couple of years the industry has seen a rise in cocktail culture and the resurgence of the Moscow Mule. This past summer Eau Claire Distillery experimented with the popular drink in the Tasting Room by substituting vodka with their extremely successful spirit, Prickly Pear EquineOx. When the Eau Claire team tasted the combination, specifically Prickly Pear EquineOx and Annex Ale Ginger Beer, they knew they had to reach out about a potential collaboration.
“We decided early on that we wanted to contribute to the expanding Alberta Craft Distilling industry. We found we were best able to do so by making craft sodas from all natural ingredients, right from scratch. Pairing our Ginger Beer with quality spirits is how we intended our sodas to be used and so it made sense to partner with Eau Claire to make the EquineOx Mule,” said Annex Ale Co-Owner and Brewer, Andrew Bullied.
