Tomatin 40 Year

A limited edition of 1614 bottles, with only about 24 having found their way to Alberta. Distilled in 1967, it is 42.9% after maturing 40 years in 7 Ex-Sherry Hogsheads. Andrews Tasting Note: Nose: a mlange of tropical fruits, decadent spices, silky leather tendrils and fine tobacco; as the nose opens up there is a hint of mango, fresh cut pineapple, melons and Seville orange; there is a little prickle from the oak, hinting at the whiskys advancing age; Palate: more silky leather and fine tobacco with decadent spices like ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg; the fruit is fleshy and ripe with more tropical fruits, creamy melon, mango and more tart pineapple; Finish: long, fruity and creamy with lingering tingly spices; more fine tobacco, smooth leather and traces of the tropical fruits; Comment: this is a fine example of an older whisky, starting to show its age but still fresh, layered and very vibrant.
