Pronounced "cull-eela," Caol Ila -- one of eight operating distilleries on Islay -- is Celtic for "Sound of Islay," referring to the fact the distillery overlooks the strait between Islay and Jura. One of Islay's most modern distilleries, it was built in 1846. Its whisky is matured and bottled on the mainland. And the Caol Ila 30 Year? "The closest thing to Port Ellen I�ve ever tasted that wasn�t Port Ellen," says our very own Scotch Guy.
