High West has been around for a while in Park City, Utah – since 2007 to be exact. It was the first legal distillery to open in Utah since Prohibition.
High West Campfire is probably their most unique and also their most divisive product. The components of this bottle may give you an idea as to why: Campfire is a blend of Straight Rye Whiskey plus Straight Bourbon Whiskey – but that is not all! It also contains some Blended Malt Scotch – and this Scotch is Peated. Campfire is a wonderful mutant of a whiskey. Bottled at 46% ABV.
The components are all aged in a combination of charred new American Oak (the Bourbon and the Rye) and second use Bourbon Barrels (Likely the Blended Malt Scotch and possibly when the whiskeys are being married together). The compenents specifically are:

Producer Tasting Note
Nose: Floral, fruity, bright and spicy, caramel, butterscotch, Light smoke and smoldering wood from a campfire the morning after, jasmine, chai tea, sandalwood, leather, tobacco, pine resin and toasted bread.
Taste: Vanilla, honey, toffee with some nice fruit, blueberries and black cherries, chai spices - nutmeg, cinnamon, orange zest, salty caramels, tobacco, gentle smoke!
Finish: Long, sweet, spicy, and smoky
