A favourite producer of wine critics everywhere! This small, family-owned German winery was established in 1967 and is still owned and operated by the Erbes family, including father Karl and his son Stefan. They have 12 acres of vineyards in some the Mosel's best regions: Ürziger Würzgarten and Erdener Treppchen. All the family's vines are non-grafted Riesling vines; the oldest are between 70 and 80 years old. This Auslese (pronounced OWS-lay-zuh) is a beautiful, well-balanced wine that's rich and intense. Try it with Sichuan smoked duck, or duck with a fruit sauce.
