Rockford Marion Tawny Fortified Wine

Rockford Marion Tawny Fortified Wine

$74.99

This Tawny Port-style fortified wine hails from the Barossa Valley of Australia. Produced by Rockford Winery, it takes its name from an old Paddle Steamer named Marion. The wine itself is aged in small oak casks for an average of 15 years before bottling. Rockford is arguably the most sought-after producer from the Barossa Valley, and their wines have a large cult following.

From The Producer

"The PS Marion Tawny is released as part of our long-term support of the Paddle Steamer Marion, built in 1897 and now moored in Mannum. Every sip of this wine helps put steam back into the boiler of one of the finest ships that ever plied the waters of the magnificent Murray River."

RobertParker.com Tasting Note (from August 2018)

92 Points - Joe Czerwinski - "Aimed to be released at approximately 15 years of age, the latest NV PS Marion Tawny shows appropriate bricking at the rim. It's full-bodied, plump and juicy, with caramelized cherries and baking spices leading the flavor parade. Befitting the style, the mouthfeel is creamy and the tannins are supple, with no need for (or advantage to) further cellaring."
