This Port Ellen bottling is from a single sherry butt distilled and put into cask in the winter of 1983 just before the distillery's closure. 46%, non-chilfiltered and no added colouring. 90pts Jim Murray

My tasting note: Nose: fresh mown grass and soft citrussy fruit notes like dried orange and grapefruit juice, edgeless smoke and damp sea breeze; Palate: starts softly sweet and stays clean with some developing sherry, spice and peat notes, and the salty smoke is never far off;warming with sweet tobacco, licorice and leather; Finish: long, full and rich with thick tarry peat and burnt spices.
