The highly regarded Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino is created with traditional and modern techniques. For instance: Temperature controlled stainless steel tanks are used in making the wine, as well as larger french oak casks. However, more historically used giant Slavonian oak casks are still employed for marrying and maturing a portion of the wine. The result is a complex bottle that drinks well upon release but can easily cellar, typically offering silky tannins, dark fruit and enticing floral notes consistently across vintages.
Pair with a hearty stew or pasta dish, aged Parmigiano or Gouda cheese, or lamb roast.

95 Points - Reviewed by Monica Larner - "The Fuligni 2017 Brunello di Montalcino is a beautiful wine, and it shines a much-deserved spotlight on one of the most consistent estates in Montalcino. It is bright and luminous with a dark ruby shine. The bouquet reveals deeply layered tones of red cherry, wild berry, rose, earth and candied violets. Give the wine an extra twirl or two, and you get some rosemary and lavender. Soft dusty mineral and limestone also appear. I'd definitely put this bottle on a short list of the most recommended bottles from the 2017 vintage."

The price of wine seems to be getting higher and higher with every passing day, especially in famous regions such as Burgundy and Napa. Brunello is of course no exception to this, with most bottles nowadays going for at least $100. This bottle from La Torre represents great value for money. It offers aromas of black tea, black cherries, and savoury herbs on the nose. On the palate, ripe red fruits and baking spice hit the front of the palate, with a finish of cranberry and violet tapering off. Fine tannins and a crisp acidity keep the palate wanting more.
Would benefit from a couple-hour decant.

Conti Costanti makes a deep, dark, rich, cellar-worthy style of Brunello di Montalcino that is aged in Slavonian Oak casks 500 litres in size as well as 3000-litre vats. They are is consistently given high scores by critics and consumers alike, vintage after vintage. The Costanti Estate vineyards reside 300 to 400 metres above sea level and cover a dozen hectares planted mostly with Sangiovese/Brunello, along with a small amount of more recently planted Merlot and Cabernet.
Consider pairing with steak, grilled Portabello mushrooms, a rich mushroom risotto, or spaghetti with giant meatballs in tomato sauce.
