Established near the town of Alness on the Firth of Cromarty in 1839, Dalmore is the flagship single malt of Whyte & Mackay. During the First World War the distillery was requisitioned by the Royal Navy to build mines. Eventually American forces would take charge on the site, leaving behind a long pier still known as the American Pier. Dalmore also holds the record for the most expensive bottle of whisky ever sold at about $60,000.00CDN. ml
