SOLD OUT. This limited bottling is no longer available. It is not likely to return.

This could be one of the most collectible whisky releases of 2008. Last year's release, Macallan 50Yr Lalique, sold for $6,000.00 and is now retailing for more than $13,500.00 in some markets. The 55Yr is unique because it is a lightly peated expression of Macallan. This is because it is a marriage of a Sherry Butt from 1949 and of two hogsheads from 1945. Caol was still being rationed to support the war effort in 1945, and as a result Macallan has to use peat to dry their malt. The 55Yr is more elegant and subtle than the 50Yr, with vanilla, caramel, plum, spices and a backbone of clean smoke.

This special Lalique crystal bottling of Macallan is the 2nd release in a series of what will eventually be 6 bottles. Only 10 bottles are coming to Canada, but 4 of them to Alberta out of a total production of 420 bottles. 2 of these 4 bottles in Alberta have already sold; one through Kensington Wine Market.
