The history of rum is intricately linked to that of sugar cane which was brought to the Caribbean from the Canary Islands by Columbus in 1493. In the Caribbean sugar cane was first planted on the island of Hispaniola, which is shared by Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The first sugar cane spirits would appear in British Barbados around 1640. The rum is aged 8 years in Limousin Oak.750ml ml
