If you are a fan of Bordeaux blends, you need to try this wine from the Dolomites in Italy. The San Leonardo 2018 vintage is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Carmenère, and 10% Merlot aged for 24 months in a combination of new and refill French oak barrels. This big, bold wine can be drunk now with decanting, and is especially friendly with red meats. Alternatively, it can be forgotten about in your cellar for another decade or more.

"The 2015 San Leonardo pours forth with a beautiful velvety appearance and sultry dark garnet color. This wine shows a lot of life and dark fruit purity with black plum, blackberry, cassis and tarry prune. There is a delightful note of black pepper that is specific to this warm and sunny vintage. The fruit shows softer and richer concentration compared to past vintages and more pulpy density that gives this edition a bigger profile in terms of mouthfeel. Production is 75,000 bottles. San Leonardo is a wine made for long aging, but the nice thing about this vintage is that the bouquet remains quite accessible at this young age. Nevertheless, I'd still suggest keeping this bottle in your cellar so that it can calmly finish its evolution." 97+ points

Made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc it sees 12 hours of low-temperature maceration on the skins, followed by gentle pressing and fermentation for 20 days. It spends five months sur lie solely in stainless steel. The previous vintage sold out quickly and was a staff favourite, always a good sign. It walks the line stylistically between Sancerre and New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc flavour profiles, the best of both worlds.

A grower-producer in the heart of Chigny-les-Rose, Giles Dumangin has champagne coursing through his veins. Dating back to the 1650's, the Dumangin's have always worked with the vines of Champagne, but it wasn't until 1890 when Hippolyte Dumangin created Champagne Dumangin in the 1er Cru vineyards of Chigny-les-Roses. Five generations later, Champagne Dumangin is producing an array of wines, from their classic feminine style to their newer, high-end cuvees. This Cuvee 17 is (almost) an equal blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, and is one of their newest additions to their line. Cuvee 17 is a natural style champagne, but this is serious wine! With 33% of the bottle consisting of reserve wine, it creates a fierce complexity and opulent notes of elderflower, banana, lemon cream and hints of brioche. Perfect as an aperitif, with appetizers or with fresh seafood.

The Terre di San Leonardo is the IGT younger sibling of the iconic San Leonardo. Like its older sibling, it is a Bordeaux-style blend from an amazing Italian producer. The 2019 vintage consists of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 10% Carmenère with 4/5ths being matured in concrete vats and the remaining 1/5 in French oak barrels. This big red will pair nicely with big red meat dishes and hard cheese.
