This independent bottling is from my favorite distillery, Port Ellen. Port Ellen closed in 1983, and it's whisky is increasingly hard to come by... This bottling was matured in a sherry butt, 549 bottles produced, 50%ABV.

Independent bottler Douglas Laing somehow seems to get their hands on more casks of Port Ellen than anyone else. What can I say, brothers Fred & Stuart know what they're doing. "Nose: With sea tang, salt & tarry sweetness. Palate: Dry, saline, sweet & leathery. Finish: Runs long on tar, an oily quality & peat." - Fred Laing. Bottled from 1 sherry butt, 549 bottles, 50%ABV.
