Benriach est. 1897 was long referred to as Longmorn no.2; hidden in the shadow of its sister distillery. For 65yrs beginning in 1903 the distillery produced no whisky but was kept open to malt barley for Longmorn. This Benriach is of the heavily peated variety 1st distilled in 1983. Nose: heavy smoke, citrus & malt. Palate: sweet w/ chewy malt & heavy spices. Finish: long w/ vanilla, cocoa & peat.

Old Ballantruan is a peated version of Tomintoul single malt, named for the distillery's spring. With a peat spec at an impressive 55ppm for the malt, this should be a must-try for peated whisky fans. The first issue of this whisky with the 10-Year-Old age statement was launched in 2012. It is bottled at 50%.
