Long held in high esteem as one of McLaren Vale’s finest Shiraz plantings, Block 6 Shiraz continues the tradition at Kay Brothers of producing full bodied red wines that have the grace and pedigree to age for decades. Handpicked and fermented in the original open top fermenters, Block 6 Shiraz is a wine of great strength, deep complexity and amazing vibrancy. The Block 6 vineyard faces east and rows run north south with significant undulation. The vines are cane pruned with the canes wrapped onto the top wire of the low lying trellis. The present 1.5 hectares comprises a corner of red loam, some heavy clay in the middle of the block and gravelly alluvial soils on the lower side. The underlying “South Maslin Sands” geology is extremely complex containing layers of glauconite, limestone, sandstone and siltstone. A very low yielding vintage that produced concentrated wines.

On the palate it delivers layers of concentrated dark cherries, cacao and black olive, followed by slowly building, fine-textured, chalky tannins of immense length. Rich and concentrated with power and finesse. Try it with barbequed ribs and other spicy meat dishes.

Two Alices' are better than one! Alices vineyard and the Shiraz it grows takes its name a mother and an aunt of Greenock Creek's owners Annabelle and Michael Waugh: Annabelle's mom and Michael's favourite aunt. Alices Shiraz is one of the iconic big reds in Greenock Creek's portfolio and is also the winery's largest vineyard with a total area of 15 acres. The vines on the site were planted in 1997.

Amon-Ra Shiraz is an iconic wine that epitomises Ben Glaetzer’s passion to create wines that are full flavoured, multi layered and intense but still elegant, stylish and finely balanced. The nose has essence of black cherry, dark plums and spice. On the palate look for mouth coating richness with restraint and admirable poise. In Egyptian mythology, Amon-Ra is considered to be the king of all gods. The temple of Amon-Ra was believed to be the first temple to ever plant a monoculture vineyard to produce wine for the citizens of the temple.
The eye on front of the label is the all-seeing eye of Horus or wedjat ("whole one") - a powerful Egyptian symbol of protection. It is represented as a figure with six parts, corresponding to what Egyptians regarded as the six senses; touch, taste, hearing, sight, smell and thought.
Ben created Amon-Ra Shiraz to appeal to all these six senses.

Moppa's Westlake vineyards, at the northern tip of the Barossa, are often refrred to as the third estate as they encompasses elements of three of Greenock's key sites. Made from the Hill Block vineyard that sits just above Jaensch, it's remenicent of a chocolate covered cherry with a big vanilla component from a combination of new American (50%) and French oak barrels. Tempting to drink now for its oppulent fruit blast, it will age for up to 20 years if you happen to possess that sort of patience.
