DuMOL winemaker and partner Andy Smith says this about the Highland Divide Chardonnay "... this is not just a mixing of vineyards and barrels; there’s great equilibrium in this special assembly." The Highland Divide is the result of sourcing grapes from some of DuMOL's own estate vineyards and partner vineyards at higher elevations within the Russian River Valley. Barrel fermenting and aging takes place in a combination of stainless steel tanks and new and used French Oak, lending this Chardonnay both power and subtle complexity.

Winery Tasting Note (2018 Vintage)
Inviting aromatics draw you in: crisp apple and pear, fresh mint and lemon balm, rich brioche and oatmeal. The palate is immediately textured and broad with obvious fruit richness offset by deep savory notes of lanolin, sweet sage and minerals. There’s a drive and focus to the wine with a fine interplay between texture and structure. Flavors of lemon oil and lime zest linger on the finish with honeyed undertones and a savory cut.
Robertparker.com Tasting Note (2018 Vintage)
93 Points - Erin Brooks - "The 2018 Chardonnay Highland Divide has bright scents of lemon peel and crushed stone over a core of quince paste, dried hay and honeycomb. The palate is medium-bodied and swells with savory, toasty flavor layers, with an uplifted, fresh frame and long finish."
Robertparker.com Tasting Note (2017 Vintage)
93 Points - Erin Brooks - "The 2017 Chardonnay Highland Divide was barrel fermented and aged 12 months on the lees in 33% new oak. It's toasty on the nose with loads of spices over a core of ripe peach, apricot and nectarine, honey, crème fraîche, citrus peel and crushed shell. Light to medium-bodied, it offers a good interplay of mineral and savory character with tangy acidity and a very long, focused finish. 950 cases produced."

DuMOL was founded in 1996, focusing on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from distinctive vineyards in Sonoma and Napa Valley. Over the 25 years of operation, they have honed their skill in making wines of place and distinction. DuMOL has added to the roster of varietals to include small lots of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Viognier. DuMOL is farming small select parcels across more than two dozen very special vineyard sites. These sites include their own vineyard as well as others in the Russian River Valley and sites in Sonoma Coast and Carneros regions. Andy Smith, head winemaker and partner, says it takes time to determine the detailed characteristics of a vineyard and then to use the right winemaking techniques to produce the best wine possible from that site. The capacity at the winery is 15,000 cases annually. The winery is not open to the public and sales are through their mailing list, restaurants and a small selection of public retailers.
Kensington Wine Market is honoured to be one of DuMOL's exclusive wine stores.
