"The fruits of Angus's mission to the Netherlands last year: a frankly ridiculous sherry bomb of Millstone single malt from Zuidam Distillery. This is a proper, old school ex-PX sherry hogshead that matured for 11 years at the distillery before being bottled at natural cask strength. It tastes how it looks: extremely rich, luscious, darkly fruity, drenched in balsamic, syrupy figgy fruits, rancio, old tobacco and some very subtle medicinal impressions. It's a gorgeous dram and a no-brainer for sherry fanatics!

"Every now and again, a modern sherry cask just lands exactly where you want it, and this is one of those. A single 1st fill sherry hogshead of Glenlivet 2006, aged for 19 years and bottled with a small, deliberate reduction to our much-loved 57.1%. It’s Glenlivet in full, confident stride, rich, composed and unapologetically sherried, but still letting the distillate keep its footing. It opens deep and plush, figs, prunes, sultanas and strawberry jam, with a background hum of old cigar boxes, cedar and polished wood. The palate gets darker and more textural, mulchy, waxy, packed with tobacco, milk chocolate and dense fruit, with just a flicker of sea salt and mocha to keep things lively. It carries on long and assured, with spices building alongside preserved fruits, walnut oil and a touch of rancio creeping in. Proper, modern sherry cask whisky, done the right way."
