"A Decadent Drams special! Just in for the summer... a highball-ready, blended malt world whisky featuring richly peated malts from a variety of those beloved human constructs: nation states! Featuring whisky from nations such as Scotchland, Germany and Sweden, all flavoured by peat from various segments of the planet's surface. This Earthy brew has been bottled after no less than 8 years of age (though some bits are older), matured in bourbon barrels and bottled at an instantaneously mixable strength of 50%."

"A Warholian label, rather nice. Colour: very pale white wine. Nose: ultra-tight, on grapefruit skin, chalk and fresh bread. With water: tangerines and beeswax come barging in. Mouth (neat): excellent, earthy, chalky, waxy, citrusy, salty. With water: same again, only deeper and even more taut. Finish: long, perfect, pure, waxy, saline, citrusy. Comments: superb distillate, but no name guessing please. Although I’m struggling to hold back… SGP:562 - 88 points."

Ichiro's Malt & Grain is a blend of whiskies made around the world. The blend is created by Ichiro Akuto, who owns and operates the famed Chichibu Distillery in Saitama, Japan. Beyond Chichibu Single Malt Whisky being part of the blend, the other distilleries used are not disclosed. Bottled at 46.5%.

Not exactly a new concept, but perhaps the most coherent and well-executed example of blends that cross international borders and waters. Suntory tells us this five-sided bottle is meant to represent "the most prestigious whisky regions in the world" by marrying whisky (and whiskey) from some the industry's true titans: Yamazaki (Japan), Hakushu (Japan), Cooley (Ireland), Jim Beam (America), Alberta Distillers (Canada), Ardmore (Scotland), and Glen Garioch (Scotland). Each is meant to ante up with its "unique history and climate." And if you're curious, the name 'Ao' means 'blue', referring to the oceans that tie the continents together.
