This 12 year old Tormore is one of the first-ever official single cask bottlings. Distilled in 2012, the whisky matured in a Refill ex-Bourbon Barrel (cak 800313) before bottling at 52.3%.

‘Legacy’ single cask series is a celebration of Tormore’s past and the people that have made it. Polly Logan, Tormore Distillery manager, has hand-picked a selection of the distillery’s vintage casks, all matured in ex-bourbon barrels where the wood profile perfectly complements Tormore’s intrinsic, fruity and elegant character. Single casks have been previously available in rare, small batches from independent bottlers -but ‘Legacy’ is the first official distillery single cask release under the Elixir Distillers stewardship."

Nose: fresh, floral, and citric, with nutty malt; lemon meringue, cream cheese icing with lime zest, and clotted cream; lilacs on a dewy spring morning; nutty with chewy malt.
Palate: light, fresh, and floral with more chewy malt and nutty toasted oak; crystallized honey, toasted coconut, and more clotted cream; earthy dunnage notes, Mexican marzipan, and building wood spice; still leaning in the citrus fruits' direction, with a dash of melon and green apple; late sour plums.
Finish: still fresh, fruity, and malty; the floral notes return along with the citrus and malt.
Comment: youthful, but balanced, and more than a little spirit driven; this is a window into the Tormore DNA, and a sign of things to come; quite simply a lovely malt.
Producer Tasting Note
Nose: Lemon peel, butter pasty, sweet vanilla oak & fresh meadow flowers.
Palate: Creamy lemon curd, vanilla custard, poached pears & sweet oak.
Finish: Sweet citrus, vanilla charred oak.
