Producer Tasting Note
Nose: Lightly spiced fruit cake aromas followed by notes of orange peel and roast hazelnut. Red apple and oak develop alongside a hint of chocolate.
Taste: Smooth and sweet with intense orange maralade flavours followed by stewed red fruits and spice complemented by toasted oak.
Finish: Spicy with lingering milk chocolate and garden mint smooth.

In terms of age statements at least, the 21-year-old sits at the apex of the Aberfeldy family. It's no geriatric, to be sure, but a couple decades in oak has put this one firmly in beautiful, mature whisky territory. If we're being honest though, 40% seems a bit scrawny by today's standards. Despite that wee hangup, it's hard to argue that the flavour isn't spectacular. And if we're continuing with this whole honesty thing, the simple reality is that some whiskies are going to be a bit lighter (read: lower alcohol) but are still absolutely deserving of attention on the merits of intrinsic quality. This is just such a one.
