"In 2008, Chichibu Distillery was opened by founder, Ichiro Akuto, and it was the first new distillery to open in Japan in 3 decades. Ichiro’s grandfather owned the famed Hanyu Distillery, which closed in 2000. Ichiro then took possession of all the whisky stocks left behind in the Hanyu distillery and used them in the blending production of the world famous Ichiro’s Malt Card Series. Chichibu whiskies are much in demand globally due to limited production and award winning quality. Ichiro Akuto is revered globally as a master craft distiller, producing some of Japan’s best whiskies today. A marriage of single malts from Chichibu and Hanyu distilleries. This expression marries sweetness and firmness. Malts from Chichibu's Mizunara oak and malts from Hanyu's Sherry cask Hogshead barrels impart these special characteristics to this limited expression whisky."

This rare expression whisky is a marriage of single malts from Chichibu, Hanyu and Scottish distilleries that have been aged in various casks for undisclosed amount of years. These are then blended and aged in Wine Wood casks from prominent wineries from around the world and finished in special French Ovum casks for final maturation. The drastic temperature changes at Chichibu accelerates maturation and imparts deep complexities to the whisky."
