"This year’s Spring Edition of Equinox & Solstice is a single refill hogshead of 2011 Teaninich, bottled at 13 years of age and reduced to this series’ trademark easy drinking strength of 48.5%.
"This cask already displayed a higher than usual show of Teaninich’s more highland, waxy side, but in addition to that, it also has a subtle but distinct layer of peat running throughout. Whether that is from the distillate or the previous cask, we don’t know, but the result is really tasty and very unusual – also a perfect balance of freshness and power for Spring!"

"This refill bourbon hogshead of Teaninich seemed like the perfect option for our Spring 2023 edition of Equinox & Solstice.Apart from the fact it displayed an unusally rich and waxy highland profile, it also has a really intriguing note of peat within it.Whether this is coming from the distillate or the previous fill of the cask we can’t find out, but the result is intriguing, deliciousand works brilliantly as a fresh and hearty Spring warmer."

This KWM Cask is our first cask pick ever from Teaninich Distillery, courtesy of indie bottler Berry Bros. & Rudd. It was distilled in 2010 and matured in a hogshead until hitting the bottle in 2024 at a strength of 54.1%. 245 bottles in total from cask number 709018.

"We’re always on the look out for casks that go against common expectations of certain distilleries. In the case of Mortlach, we often associate this distillery and its notoriously meaty and full-bodied distillate with sherry casks. So, we were very pleased to find this refill hogshead matured example that shows this wonderfully fat and oily distillate in all its natural glory. Rich, naturally sweet, waxy, fruity and well-balanced, this is perfect for easy summer sipping or, as is often the case with this series, makes a terrific highball too."
