Basil Hayden Bourbon is made by Jim Beam Distillery. It is created using the high-rye Old Grand Dad mash bill, which purportedly contains about 27% Rye in the mash. Bottled at 40%.

When Basil Hayden Sr. began distilling his smooth bourbon in 1796, the state of Kentucky was only 4 years old and George Washington was president of the United States! Hayden was born and raised in Maryland, where he learned to make whiskey from rye. When he came to Kentucky, Hayden began making whiskey from a base of corn, but added a higher percentage of rye than other distillers, resulting in a smooth, mild bourbon that was distinctly his own.

What was once Small Batch is now Single Barrel! Baker’s Single Barrel Bourbon is produced at Jim Beam Distillery in Clermont, Kentucky. It is one of the few Jim Beam-made Bourbons to retain an age statement on the label, Baker’s is a minimum 7-year-old Bourbon and part of the Jim Beam premium line that also contains Booker’s and Basil Hayden’s. Named after Jim Beam’s nephew: Baker Beam, it is bottled at 53.5% ABV or 107 Proof.

This is a Bonded Bourbon from Old Grand-Dad/Jim Beam Distillery in Kentucky. It uses the Old Grandad recipe, which is a high-rye mash bill, purportedly amounting to about 27% Rye in the mash.

The term "Bonded" or "Bottled in Bond" means that this whiskey had to adhere to the following standards as originally written into law by the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897:

• All whiskey in the bottle must be produced by one distillery and by one distiller over the course of one distillation season.
• The whiskey must be at least four years old.
• It must be bottled at 100 proof / 50% ABV
• The whiskey must be aged in bonded warehouses under United States federal supervision.
• The label on the bottle has to state which distillery it comes from and also where it was bottled.

Old Tub Kentucky Straight Bourbon

Old Tub is a Bonded Bourbon made by Jim Beam Distillery of Clermont, Kentucky. The name Old Tub actually comes from the pre-prohibition name of Jim Beam Distillery itself. No mention is made as to which mash bill is used for this, but given the history of the name, it is likely the regular Jim Beam Bourbon mash bill of 75% Corn, 13% Rye, 12% Barley. What sets it apart is the 50% ABV and that it is said to be Unfiltered, "for more robust flavor". 

This is apparently a limited release from Jim Beam - but maybe they have enough stock to change their mind on that? Only time will tell...

"Little Book® Chapter 6, “To The Finish,” is the sixth chapter in the Little Book Whiskey series. “To The Finish” offers a chance for any curious whiskey drinker to expand their palate - both seasoned connoisseurs and newcomers alike. The name of this year’s chapter offers fans of American whiskey an opportunity to experience liquid that I personally had a hand in creating and showcases the innovation of Little Book chapters over the last six years.

Little Book Chapter 6 is a blend of five different liquid streams using different wood staves and barrel techniques that impart a unique liquid profile due to the secondary aging. This chapter continues to push the boundaries of blending and challenges what some might assume of lower aged whiskies. The way these liquid streams complement each other makes this liquid extremely approachable, even for those who haven’t given cask strength whiskey a try.

The inspiration for Chapter 6 came from combining two of my passions – cooking and whiskey. The way they complement each other and come together is what sparked my curiosity for “To The Finish”. Using the smoke and flavor of hardwoods, I am able to bring together timeless tools from the culinary trade into pioneering my work with American Whiskey.
