Back after several years in the wilderness, the beloved BenRiach 12 Year Sherry Wood Aged (formerly matured). Bottled at 46%, the whisky combines those matured full term in sherry casks, as well as those finished in PX and Oloroso Sherry!
Producer Tasting Note
Nose: Sherry cask maturation at its most fruity and luscious. Baked fruit salad with fig, pear, apricot and glacé cherry in mandarin syrup. Honey glazed flan with crème-caramel and toasted vanilla pod add to the multi-layered sweetness.
Taste: A rich fruit cocktail of honeyed fig, baked pineapple and sultana fused with chocolate fondant and muscovado sugar, lifted by mandarin cream, ground nutmeg and vanilla. On the finish savour nectarine, candied grape and star anise, lingering into the dessert-like sherried finish.

This luscious 12 year old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is unconventionally made using three facets of sherry cask maturation: full sherry cask maturation, combined with Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry cask finishing, for unexpected layers of fruit sweetness and toasted oak spice. Each facet of sherry cask maturation is expertly combined by our Master Blender to work in harmony, creating a luscious Single Malt Scotch Whisky with a multi- layered cocktail of fruit notes, further enriching BenRiach’s signature sweet, fruit-laden style."

The new Glendronach 12 year has been double cask matured in both Bourbon casks and Oloroso Sherry Casks giving it a soft creamy body with some sweet sherry notes. The new owners have done well by this one.

"The GlenDronach Port Wood is inspired by the historical import of casked Port into Scotland during the 19th Century. During the 1800s, P ort was ‘de rigueur’, and many of the finest Port pipes would travel from Portugal, down its Douro River, destined for the wine cellars of Scotland’s gentry.
"Whilst many years have since passed, Portugal’s majestic Douro Valley is still renowned for its exceptional Port. We have selected some of its finest Port pipes to enrich The GlenDronach for a second maturation period Our Master Blender has expertly combined the whisky from these Port pipes, to create a fruit filled expression, with layers of ripe berries rolling into its signature long, lingering finish."

Matured in a mix of 20% Ex-Bourbon, 20% First Fill Ex-Sherry and Refill casks and bottled at 43%. Glengoyne is a distillery that straddles the Highland/Lowland boundary. The whisky is unpeated and generally influenced by sherry notes.
