Cadenhead Small Batch Ord 2008 57.7%

$89.99

Glen Ord produces ridiculous amounts of whisky. 10 million litres a year, last I heard. But it's quite possible the facility is more coveted for its malting capabilities than for what it is able to produce as a single malt. It's a shame, really, as some of the Ords we've been fortunate enough to get our hands on have been really quite cool. But the blenders need their juice too, and Diageo needs bucketloads of this stuff to pour into the the young Singleton release as well. Another of the sad stories in the annals of Scotch Whisky production. Fortunately, we have independent bottlers like Cadenhead to tide us over. This 10 year old was a vatting of two Hogsheads, with an outturn of 534 bottles, at 57.7% abv.

Producer Tasting Note

Palate: Lime, pickles, geraniums, edible flowers with pistachio nuts and praline.

Finish: Light and floral before finishing with hints of rock salt, mezcal and lemongrass.
