The rebranded Distillery Label line looks great, with the retro labels meeting modern bottles. Matured in First Fill & Refill Sherry Casks, the whisky is bottled at 43%.
Andrew's Tasting Note
Nose: creamy, fruity and floral; Strawberry Twizzlers, waxy Starburst fruit candies, crisp spices and singed cedar boards; candied ginger and cinnamon sticks.
Palate: creamy, coating and fruity fruity with building spices; smooth new leather, sliced ginger, cinnamon sticks and woody licorice root; more Strawberry Twizzlers and waxy Starburst canides.
Finish: long, coating, decadent and so spicy; toasty oak spices linger long on the finish!
Comment: freshly, lively and very spicy; the price jump on this, from the old one, was precipitous; but the old one was underpriced and the quality of the new bottling superb; the sharp new bottle adds a little extra weight to the impression!
Producer's Tasting Note
"Aroma Fruity and fresh, dry Sherry, ripe strawberry, and raspberry aromas highlighted by a light lemon-citrus edge. Tangy orange marmalade develops and combines with warm cinnamon and toffee. Taste Initially intensely sweet; mellowing with time and the gentle and warming spice flavours of cinnamon and clove. Creamy white chocolate develops and entwines with a juicy tangerine edge. Finish Medium and rounded with fresh herbal tones and a slightly drying cocoa powder edge."
