A Merlot-based Bordeaux blend from renowned wine broker Kimberly Jones, a woman that some call "the queen of Napa wines." Yeah, Napa. Here, though, she's stretched her boundaries to make a Merlot-driven Bordeaux, working with Arbalest winemaker Benoit Touquette, who has worked at a handful of Bordeaux wineries including Chateau La Louviere and Chateau Couhins-Lurton. An awesome price and limited availability! Well-balanced, with red berry fruit, silky tannins and fine minerality. 75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot
Don't miss it! A Kensington Wine Market exclusive.750 ml
Robertparker.com Tasting Note (2016 Vintage)
91 Points - Lisa Perrotti-Brown - "Here's a seriously fun Bordeaux wine that offers jaw-dropping great value, made by French native, Napa super-star winemaker Benoit Touquette. The 2016 Arbalest is a blend of 75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. The Petit Verdot and the Cabernet Sauvignon come from the Left Bank. I’m not allowed to tell the name of the Château, but it’s in the Saint-Estèphe area. The Merlot and Cabernet Franc come from the Right Bank, where the soil is clay-limestone on limestone rock, with a southwest exposure. Medium garnet-purple colored, it charges out of the gate with notes of warm black plums, Black Forest cake, licorice and candied violets plus hints of fallen leaves and cedar chest. The medium to full-bodied palate is jam-packed with juicy black fruit, framed by ripe rounded tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and spicy. "
Jeb Dunnuck Tasting Note (2016 Vintage)
91 Points - "One of the best values in Bordeaux out there, the 2016 Arbalest comes from a mix of the Right and Left Banks and is 75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% each of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Ripe, medium to full-bodied, and beautifully textured, it has classic notes of black cherries, leafy herbs, chocolate, and damp earth. With nicely integrated acidity, fine tannins, and a beautiful sense of purity paired with plenty of richness, it's a no-brainer purchase to enjoy over the coming decade."
"As an admirer of the diversity and quality of California's wines, and with nearly 37 years of experience tasting and visiting the state's viticultural regions, wine-broker Kimberly Jones has consistently demonstrated an incredible talent for representing many of the best producers. With her skilled palate, a limitless enthusiasm, and insatiable curiosity, she has assembled a portfolio of wines that is breath-taking in its diversity, value, and exquisite quality."

Some say Kimberly Jones is the Queen of Napa Valley. We agree, but that's not all she does. With nearly 40 years of experience, Kimberly Jones is California's leading fine wine broker. Not only does she release wine from Napa and California, but she also releases stunning reds and whites from France. These include The Arbelist; a Merlot driven blend from right bank Bordeaux and Operation Dragoon; a Southern Rhone red blend of Grenache and Syrah.
KJ wines deftly merge the best of both California and France in style, offering lush and approachable but also refined and balanced versions sure to please lovers and haters of both regions.
Kensington Wine Market is privileged to be one of the exclusive sources for Kimberly Jones Selections wine since 2016.
